Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor, the Food Services Staff will be responsible for creating menus and providing meal service for clients who are actively participating in programs and community events that may include meals.

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9am - 5:30pm; Tuesday and Thursday 8am - 4:30pm

Location: Red Deer Main Building
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleaning of all Food Services areas to ensure health and safety standards are met
- Prepare evening meals in conjunction with volunteers
- Implement the procedures, standards, and policies of the Environmental Health Services Guidelines regarding how food is prepared, handled, and stored
- Provide direction, supervision, and training in food handling procedures to volunteer meal groups, community education groups, individual volunteers, and fine option workers
- Keep guests' information confidential, updated, and secure
- Implement health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- Participate and complete staff training (e.g. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, First Aid, SafeTALK, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Formally trained in Food Services and/or a minimum of one (1) year experience working in a commercial kitchen environment
- Experience with menu planning, large quantity cooking, and working with donated goods is an asset
- Experience overseeing volunteers in kitchen considered a strong asset
- Valid certificate from the Alberta Health Services Food Safe course
- Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office Programs (i.e., Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Good organizational skills are a necessity for menu planning
- A valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are assets
- Ability to resolve conflicts as they arise
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Moderate to extreme physical effort: Commercial kitchen setting, extended standing, reaching, lifting, and walking
- Mental effort: moderate, periods of high volume workload
- Fast paced and demanding work environment
- This can be a high pressure environment where the ability to adapt to change and find creative solutions is essential.
