Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Service, the IT Manager will strategically plan, organize, review, and implement solution strategies to meet the current and future needs of Aquateraâs information technology systems.
The IT Manager will be responsible for overseeing all facets of Aquateraâs IT operations including, maintaining Aquateraâs technology infrastructure, directing outsourced IT partner management, short and long-range planning, network architecture design, IT security, and project management of infrastructure upgrades and implementation.
Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning*
The IT Manager will:
- Maintain organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing hardware and software solutions
- Manage contract with IT services provider by setting direction, targets and managing performance
- Recommend information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organizational outcomes
- Identify problems, evaluates trends and anticipates future requirements of the organization
Leadership
The IT Manager will:
- Build and maintain relationships with business area managers
- Manage team members with an emphasis on efficiency, accuracy, and quality, while providing a culture of process improvement to ensure superior level of client services
- Demonstrate leadership skills through actively coaching, guiding, and managing IT employees, contractors and consultants
- Advocate for implementation and use of technology to meet corporate goals and objectives
- Initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures
- Be responsible for recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintains a safe and secure work environment that develops opportunities for personal and professional growth
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices and participating in professional societies deemed necessary
Project Management
The IT Manager will:
- Oversee current implementation project for upgraded customer information system software
- Plan the stages of the project and how each affects the business, coordinates the project team and adjusts where needed
- Reconcile costs, timescales and standards to be met and monitoring these through the project
- Make sure there is a smooth transition between systems and ensures a close collaboration with change management teams
- Direct technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects
Internal Customer Service
The IT Manager will:
- Maintain quality service to all areas of the organization by establishing and enforcing organization standards
- Collaborate and address the IT needs of individuals and work teams daily
Corporate Responsibilities
The IT Manager will:
- Develop technology committee within company
- Participate on internal teams as required
- Ensure adherence to all Aquatera safety policies and safe work procedures

Qualifications
The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada and will at a minimum possess:
- Five years senior level IT experience
- Two years experience in a functional Project Management or stakeholder role
- Two years experience managing staff
- Project Management certification (PMP) considered an asset
- A strong understanding of business processes and requirements
- System implementation and system integration experience is a plus
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Work Conditions
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components
- Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals
- Able to work remotely
- This position will be based out of Grande Prairie. Occasional travel and overnight stays to our other locations may be required.
The successful candidate will be required to provide:
- A Criminal Records Check and Credit Check satisfactory to the Employer.
- A copy of a valid Canadian Driverâs License and Drivers Abstract satisfactory to the Employer
