Role

The Risk and Business Continuity Management Section of the Operational Services Branch provides risk management, strategic foresight, business continuity, facility emergency response planning and department security services and support to Alberta Environment and Parks, as well as providing services to other organizations as outlined in shared services agreements.

Reporting to the Manager, Risk and Business Continuity Management, you will be a subject matter expert for the department of Alberta Environment and Parks on human induced intentional risk issues related to: policy development; threat, risk and impact assessments, physical security, planning, training, and administration. You will be responsible to provide consultative advice to stakeholders and senior managers. You will be responsible for the delivery and coordination of physical security services by ensuring security within the Department, its public-facing buildings, and other locations is coordinated and responded to in an effective and timely manner.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Advise in the development of a Department corporate security strategic framework and program plan with supporting policies, procedures, governance structure and continuous improvement model.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate physical Security/Threat Management Plans in collaboration with the Ministries of Justice and Solicitor General and Infrastructure in order to better protect Department staff and its clients from potential threats such as human induced risks/threats, complex clients, etc.
  • Responsible for the delivery and coordination of physical security services by ensuring security within the Department, its public-facing buildings, and other locations is coordinated and responded to in an effective and timely manner
  • Ensure Department security issues/ vulnerabilities are identified timely and managed in an integrated fashion with key stakeholders
  • Provide training and orientation to the Department staff.

  • Knowledge and experience with Criminal Code and other statutes as they relate to investigations, evidence, offences and convictions.
  • Have the ability to multi-task and manage constantly changing priorities

Qualifications

University graduation in Law, psychology, security management, emergency management, risk management, Critical Infrastructure Protection. or related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or

Equivalency will be considered with a diploma in a related field supplement with a 6 years of progressive related experience.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

    Assets:
  • Professional designation as either a Certified Protection Professional or a Physical Security Professional.
  • Level one certification in Crime Prevention through environmental design (CPTED).
  • Prior working experience as a security practitioner in a corporate or public sector environment.

Salary

$2,683.10 to $3,507.06 bi-weekly

These positions work Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM - 4:30 PM, 36.25 hours a week.
