We are currently looking for a capable Civil Engineer in Training with the primary responsibilities of submitting mix designs and trial batch testing new mix designs.
What we can Offer
Regular working hours will be Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm; however, must be capable of working outside these hours if needed in the field.

We are currently looking for a capable Civil Engineer in Training with the primary responsibilities of submitting mix designs and trial batch testing new mix designs.

- Trial batch testing for new and existing mix designs
- Perform time testing, strength testing, slump retention, air, shrinkage, and flexural
- Leadership in energy and environment design submissions for LEED and Carbon Projects
- Perform job site quality investigations and analysis of concrete quality
- Troubleshooting mix designs in trial batch process, production, post-placement
- Troubleshooting problems with aggregates, cement, flyash, etc.
- Prepare reports for residential or commercial projects on investigative findings
- Attend pre-pour meetings when necessary
- Work closely with the Sales team to ensure concrete meets project specifications
- Research, design, and administer quality improvements and optimizations
- Assistance in some aspects of the new laboratory in Edmonton
- Ability to answer internal and external questions regarding mix designs
- Work with Sika representatives to trial and troubleshoot batch mixes in the lab and
- Attend comparative testing program that occur yearly
- Concrete testing in the field/yard when needed
- Engineering Degree or Engineering Technologist Diploma
- Preferred, experience in concrete testing with various mix designs
- Familiarity with CSA standard concrete practices and procedures
- Ability to read project drawings and understand concrete specifications
- Preferably, prior experience in a concrete technical services role
- Preferably, prior experience with technical mix designs
- Proven strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems, identify opportunities and make improvements
- Good time management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Valid Class 5 Driver License
