The Site Technologist is accountable for creating and maintaining documents critical to airport site infrastructure. This includes producing updated site records and user specific drawings, as well utilizing and interpreting site documentation to provide information to end users in a variety of formats to achieve their business goals. The position has strong cross-functional relationships to all SBUs.

You might be wondering what you can expect in a typical day at work. Every day will bring new opportunities, focusing on key responsibilities, you will:
  • Provide input to the Technical Services plans and directions and ensure on-going relationships are maintained with other positions and stakeholders.
  • Review and report on project deliverables to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with Technical Services standards in a timely, documented and professional manner.
  • Enter, track and complete various work requests to support internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in assessing potential impact of building/site proposals for adherence to land use standards and development regulations.
  • Assist with the management and update of the Airports' infrastructure drawings and database as it relates to site specific items.
  • Update key department records using various forms of technology, following documented procedures on an established schedule, and make them available to external and internal customers.
  • Use technical software such as GIS, CADD (Microstation or Autocad) with a high level of expertise and are able to solve problems within the software to achieve desired outputs.
  • Support our Facility Alteration Permit process as required to ensure timely and informed administration of the process.

Special Requirements

  • A diploma in civil engineering, building construction or architectural technology from a recognized two-year program. Experience and subsequent training may be considered as equivalents.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years progressive work experience in a related field
  • Two years experience using CADD software in a work environment and a demonstrated knowledge on the application of sound CADD practices (MicroStation or AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge and skill to work within various drafting disciplines used in construction drawings.
  • Building (Architectural, Mechanical & electrical)
  • Site (Civil, Electrical, Storm, Sanitary, Natural Gas)
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with the application of municipal land use and provincial safety codes and processes
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Office 365 and an aptitude for learning and working in new software programs
  • An understanding or hands on experience of ESRI GIS software (is an asset).
  • Ability to read, apply and advise on regulatory & construction documents and practices to provide a practical response or solution, applying historical context where appropriate.
  • Ability to understand, apply and communicate regulatory requirements, EIA standards/guidelines and standard construction practices and their associated relationships in order to deliver appropriate outputs to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experienced with Building code and municipal development codes and application processes
  • The ability to analyze client requests, recognize when more information is required in order to meet desired outcomes, and provide it in an appropriate manner.
  • Must secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and acceptable criminal record check as conditions of employment
