Summary
McCrum's Designers provide contract furniture design and specification services to the sales department as required. This position is accountable for the quality and accuracy of project drawings and specification detail. Designers work with information provided by the sales person to space plan, specify product, develop typicals and standards, create project renderings and reconfigure existing set-ups. When required, Designers also assist the sales person and/or client in the selection of product lines, colours and finishes.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Attend client planning meetings to present plans and information to Sales for review and approval
- Conduct field measurements and plan-to-site adherence checks at work site
- Inventory existing product to produce as-built drawings/specifications
- Develop finished working drawings for specification and installation; validate plans against construction, electrical engineering and A&D drawing sets
- Develop product specifications - double-check specifications against plans; get specifications order-entry ready using CAP specification software
- Manage changes and revisions as required
- Conduct field and critical list review with project managers and/or installation group
- Ensure complete and accurate transmittal of project planning data to order entry/ management, project management and installation groups
- Develop and present block and space plans
- Develop and presents color/finish boards and selections
- Adhere to established Design department processes to reduce inaccuracy and increase efficiency
- Estimate design project time, maintain detailed daily time sheets and manage actual time against project estimates
- Maintain detailed and extensive project documentation, including records of all key decisions, phone conversations, approvals and sign-offs, and notes from all project planning meetings
- Manage adherence to project schedule, design task completions and quality of design work
- Communicate regularly to Sales department regarding design project status
- Plotting, printing, color boards and renderings for client and dealership transmittals
Qualifications
- Disclosure of COVID-19 vaccination status is mandatory: Some of our customers require us to send only fully vaccinated personnel to their sites. As a result we need vaccination status information to be able to appropriately assign work.
- Diploma or Degree in Interior Design is preferred
- Two to three years of experience in interior design or specification of office furniture is desirable
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and/or customers
- Commitment to attention to detail and the maintenance of strict deadlines
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Strong knowledge of interior design field and current practices as they apply to corporate furnishings and an understanding of workplace environment issues (ergonomics, technology integration, teaming, etc.)
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of the dealership's contract furniture and demountable wall lines, including features/benefits, application and assembly, specifications and options
- Willingness and drive to learn contract furniture processes, including order preparation, project management, order management and delivery/installation
- Physically able to move around sites in order to perform inventory of all parts and components (occasionally in unfinished building spaces)
- All candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship. At this time, McCrum's is unable to sponsor workers. Candidates must also be local to the Calgary area and able to reasonably commute to the work location daily. Alternatively, candidates must be able to relocate to the Calgary area on their own prior to the start date.

Salary: $45,000.00-$68,000.00 per year
