OVERVIEW:
Working in a flexible work style, Alberta Blue Cross® has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic, team-oriented and results-driven Team Manager to join our Accounting team. Reporting to the Manager of Accounting and the Team Manager will be a a natural collaborator with a great attitude, work ethic and ability to see things from a customer's perspective and experience. As the successful candidate, you will bring a CPA designation and previous managerial experience to coach and mentor your staff and drive results.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Supervision of accounting staff, including mentorship and contributing to annual reviews.
- Reviewing general ledger reconciliations and journal entries.
- Preparing complex reconciliations between sub-ledgers and general ledger, including resolving or recommending action on reconciling items.
- Contributes to coordinating the distribution of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
- Significant contributor to the coordination and execution of the year end process.
- Oversee continuous improvement projects in Accounting.
- Contribute to Corporate level projects as a subject matter expert.
- Responsible for supporting and working within the internal control framework.
- Communicating with all levels of management on accounting issues, results, and business initiatives.
- Contributes to the research and recommendations regarding the treatment of accounting issues that comply with IFRS.
- Support department vision and strategic planning.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
- CPA designation is required.
- Five or more years' experience in full cycle accounting operations and/or public practice with preference given to those with prior managerial experience.
- Must have the ability to develop staff through coaching, mentorship and personal career development.
- Must have the ability to develop and grow meaningful and strong relationships with all stakeholders including senior management.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experience with reconciliations and posting journal entries.
- Experience with external & internal audit.
- Treasury Management experience is an asset.
- Strong business acumen and ability to understand business requirements.
- Ability to identify opportunities for change and improvement, research issues and formulate recommendations.
- Project support including defining requirements and testing.
- Good understanding of IFRS.
