Your Opportunity:
The role of the Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator is staff education, development, and evaluation through orientation and continuing education in the Neurosciences inpatient wards and ICU. The major responsibilities of the CNE are staff education and clinical practice development. The goal of the CNE is to promote excellence in clinical practice and maintain clinical competence in the specialty area. The position reports to the Patient Care Manager of Neurosciences. Key responsibilities are established in consultation with the leadership team of Neurosciences.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:5 years of recent related Neurosciences or Acute care experience is required. Previous Charge Nurse, Assistant Head Nurse and/or leadership experience is required. Excellent communication, initiative, time management, and prioritization are required. Demonstrated passion and success for learning, coaching, mentoring, and teaching. Creative, innovative, and a willingness to explore and try new approaches to dynamic learning and teaching. Demonstrated experience as an advocate for collaborative practice and inter-professional (ie. Nursing, allied health, and physician) practice. Proven ability to explore learning needs and potential challenges, in an effort to determine strategies for successful staff development. Possesses an engaging dynamic approach which promotes professional responsibility, accountability, and enables staff to also teach and be leaders within their roles.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous CNE experience is preferred. Previous experience leading or practicing is safety initiatives, and/or improvement projects. Previous experience leading or participating in policy, procedure and/or pathway development is preferred. Familiarity with competency frameworks and relevant standards of care is preferred.
