General Manager
We are currently seeking a strategic professional to join our Alliance Seed team as the General Manager. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will be responsible for selling and growing the Company's range of products, managing customer accounts to meet or exceed sales, managing financial and operating targets, and developing and maintaining relations with customers. This individual will have a strong understanding of financial principles, ability to produce sales, proven entrepreneurial spirit, have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to build relationships and previous management experience with the ability to travel regularly. This candidate must be comfortable dealing with both senior management and retail associates within a corporate environment that emphasizes bottom-line success.
Responsibilities:
- Executing and revising Alliance's strategic plan;
- Growing Alliance's sales of a dynamic pipeline of cereal seed varieties;
- Developing and maintaining relationships with retailers and genetic suppliers in both public and private sectors, and negotiating with retailers and genetic suppliers to secure seed varieties;
- Managing financial and operating budgets and communicating with shareholders;
- Providing leadership and support with key suppliers to partner on mutually beneficial sales and marketing initiatives;
- Managing Alliance's business of assessing current and new seed varieties and developing and maintain a network of seed producers to support the retail operations of Alliance's shareholders;
- Forecasting annual seed demand and identifying growth opportunities;
- Develop long-term and short-term marketing plans to improve Alliance's competitive and comparative advantages in the seed sales market;
- Develop and execute yearly seed marketing plan including targets, pricing, promotion, distribution, and logistics;
- Develop strategic alliances with key seed partners with respect to acquisition of the best seed varieties in each crop type Alliance is focused on;
- Develop or support strategic alliances with end users that require unique and differentiated product and/or services to support value added processing;
- Provide support to Alliance's shareholders with respect to local seed marketing plans and activities;
- Provide field support for local seed marketing initiatives;
- And all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Managerial experience in the Pedigree Seed Industry and/or Agricultural Sales is required;
- A bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness/Commerce is desired;
- Strong understanding of financial principles;
- Ability to produce sales and proven entrepreneurial spirit;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to build relationships and be able to travel regularly;
- Must be comfortable dealing with both senior management and retail associates within a corporate environment that emphasizes bottom-line success.
