Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Human Resources Director will lead the Human Resources initiative to provide an employee oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment and organizational growth. This individual contributes as a strategic partner in the accomplishment of departmental plans through initiatives that attract and retain talent, develop employees and leaders and align organizational goals and objectives.

Job Duties

  • Ensures the alignment of the HR strategy with the Mission, Vision and Strategy of the Foundation.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resources compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits and payroll; discipline matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition and morale; and education and development.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to employees to give them development and growth opportunities.
  • Ensures Collective Agreement is followed.
  • Works with Union Representative and participates in union bargaining.
  • Ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Addresses employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations.
  • Supervises and provides leadership support to the Human Resources Department staff.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Monitor assigned payroll activities and/or program components for the purpose of ensuring effective department functioning, coordinating activities and ensuring compliance with established financial, legal and/or administrative requirements.
  • Attends employee meetings to review any HR matters.
  • Participates in business meetings when required.
  • Performs other duties as required by the CAO.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • At least five years of human resources management experience in a unionized environment required.
  • CPHR designation preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Some travel will be required.
