The Opportunity:

In anticipation of future project demands, WSP invites talented professionals interested in Electrical Engineering to submit their resume.

Responsible for the electrical engineering on a variety of assigned medium and large sized projects including gas compression, gas processing facilities, emerging energy transition projects and food services projects. Responsible for design basis, equipment selection, detailed design and field implementation at an intermediate level.

A day in the life:

  • Take responsibility for ensuring that WSP Project procedures are utilized on all projects.
  • Providing guidance in the design and delivery of complex engineering projects within the Electrical discipline.
  • Able to put together rough concepts for execution by others.
  • Support the planning, scheduling, cost control activities in the design as related to the Project Plan.
  • Responsible for reviewing and stamping drawings (as required); using experience in interpreting design codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Establishing scope of work for each project.
  • Support in scope change requests and evaluate the need for trends.
  • Ability to run computer simulation programs as well as in-house engineering spreadsheets.
  • Review and understand various aspects of the project in order to rate, select and reapply equipment.
  • Assisting in the negotiation of critical engineering issues.
  • Maintaining existing design standards, guides, and procedures.
  • Assigning and reviewing work of design engineering staff.
  • Support to define scope and create engineering work packages.
  • Support in power simulation studies and associated reports.
  • Work with disciplines to understand the cost and schedule impact of changes.
  • Expected to work with all levels of the organization in a cohesive manner.

What sets you apart ...

  • Graduate in Engineering or Applied Science or Graduate in Engineering Technology Diploma Program
  • P.Eng. P.L. ENG. or P.Tech. designation. Registered with appropriate authorities in Western Canada (AGEGA, ASET, APEGBC)
  • 5 - 7 years of previous experience in an EPCM environment in the energy industry is an asset.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office.
  • Experience with power simulation software such as ETAP, SKM and EASYPOWER
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on engineering tasks.
