Graphic Designer (Mosquers Film Festival)

(Digital Storyteller)

Work Period: May – September 2022

Where: Work from home with in-office days

Report to: Board Marketing Director

Salary: $15-19/hour, 35h/week

About the Position

You will help shape and define the Mosquers Film Festival's visual communications strategy by creating dynamic, creative designed collateral that shares our organization's story with community, stakeholders, and team members. This position will support the Mosquers Film Festival events, programming, and outreach through hands-on experience in the full design process: from initial consultation and design layout, to completing the finished product. Your role will include supporting daily design activities, creating promotional materials (posters, banners, social media posts), digital marketing, and building out the Mosquers Film Festival's digital voice.

This position will be supported by Islamic Family and Social Services Association. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program.

Required Qualifications

  • Be a strong, independent, self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Be able to work under pressure & deadlines
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in graphic design, illustration, or digital marketing
  • Exceptionally well-crafted portfolio or examples design projects
  • Proficiency in software such as (but not limited to) Photoshop, Illustrator etc
  • Experience adhering to brand guidelines for organizations is an asset
  • Attentive eye to small details an asset
  • Those hired under CSJ must be between 15-30 years of age, and either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred (foreign students are ineligible) and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

You will work closely with our Co-Chairs and with our Board to design dynamic collateral and digital media. Duties may include:

  • Support in building the the Mosquers Film Festival's digital voice, communications strategy, and visual identity
  • Design graphics and posts for social media, newsletters etc that place an emphasis on accessibility as much as aesthetics
  • Develop & coordinate…
  • Various design projects – both digital and print
  • Idea generation for interactive installation design in Hüb
  • Printing needs and production schedule for designed products
  • Create internal and external collateral (posters, promotional materials, social media templates)
  • Attend regular staff meetings and check ins with the Board's Co-Chairs and with Operations CSJ team at IFSSA as required
  • Other duties as assigned.
