Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and supportive team player for the role of Process Engineer.
This is a full-time permanent position working Monday-Thursday, 7:00a.m. – 5: 00p.m at our mill site near Athabasca, AB. Core Accountabilities:
The Process Engineer provides engineering and technical support for: pulp mill operating areas, new projects, customer service and the environment team. This work includes: process analysis and optimization for improved reliability and environmental impact, and reduced costs; process/product troubleshooting; performing trials and prefeasibility studies on new technology and process changes; and providing coaching and technical development to team members.
Process Design Engineering: Design and continuously improve processes and process systems, to deliver the end product within specified cost, environment and quality parameters. Perform prefeasibility studies on new technology and process changes.
Engineering Solutions Design: Design engineering solutions that conform to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
Contract Management: Manage day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan.
Improvement/Innovation: Identify improvements in existing processes, systems and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them. Interface with research and educational institutes to leverage and implement technology developments.
Project Management: Deliver small-scale or medium-scale projects.
Education & Experience:
- Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent.
- Registered with APEGA or eligible for registration (P.Eng or Member in Training)
- Must hold a valid driver's license (GDL removed) with an acceptable driving history.
- 2-3 years' experience as an Engineer or E.I.T.
- Experience working within a Pulp Mill and/or Industrial plant is considered an asset.
- Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings, and schematics.

- Must be willing to relocate.
- Obtain a valid driver's license (GDL removed) with an acceptable driving history.
- This position may require ascending/descending a ladder to conduct inspections and performing work in a confined or restricted space for periods of time.
