Reporting to our Civil & Structural Manager, the Civil & Structural Engineer is primarily responsible for engineering of the structural and civil components of typical projects in oil and gas production and refinery plants.
Key duties may include:
· Engineering of concrete and steel piles, pile caps and footings, steel structures for modules, pipe racks, equipment and vessel supports, steel connections, baseplates and anchor bolts, soil foundation pads for tanks and/or equipment following geotechnical requirements and specifications for the specific project site, as well as grading, drainage and roadwork
· Provide engineering sketches to designers by which construction and design drawings will be developed
· Administrative duties including estimating, project coordination, progress reporting and other associated activities, as well as directing and coordinating personnel within the discipline
· Prepare calculations in accordance with standards for inclusion in project data books
· Address fabricator and construction civil or structural design queries as required
· Site and shop visits as necessary to inspect facilities and work, monitor progress and ensure design conformance
· Ensure client needs and concerns are addressed on an as-needed basis
· Provides input to development of project specifications, bid packages, work execution packages, schedules, man hour estimates, purchase orders etc
Qualifications
· B.Sc. in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
· Familiar with Staad, AutoCAD, Naviswork and Dyna6
· Familiar with designing pipe racks, steel posts, piles, warehouses, tank foundation, etc.
· Familiar with civil work such as site grading, trenches, ponds,..etc.
· Designated as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in the province of Alberta, or in the process of becoming a P.Eng.
· 3-6 years experience, with preference given to specific experience in oil and gas facilities, ideally with solid knowledge and experience within an EPCM environment
