The School of Applied Sciences and Technology has an opening for a full-time Instructor in the Graphic Communications Certificate Program. The program focuses on real-world issues and practical skills. Instructional assignments may include topics such as design fundamentals, graphic application foundations, page assembly, digital production and communications.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and delivering relevant course material
  • Conducting student evaluations, maintaining records, and providing student feedback
  • Participating in course and program development and reviews as required
  • Provide student assistance and tutoring
  • Liaising with program staff to ensure content relevance
  • Other duties as assigned

The candidate should:

  • Have well developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Be committed to student motivation, achievement and quality service
  • Have a strong orientation to student success and satisfaction
  • Be empathetic to student needs
  • Be able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Have an interest in creative modes of course delivery

Skills and Abilities:

Ideal candidates will have excellent knowledge in the printing process, digital environment, design, illustration, typography and layout in a variety of mediums. Your skillset should include: Advanced Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and production software tools. Other required skills will include concept development, composition, page layout, typography, colour theory, along with excellent written and communication skills.


Qualifications:

  • A degree/diploma in a design or media-related program along with 3 years of related industry experience is required
  • Instructional experience at a post-secondary level would be a definite asset
  • Equivalencies will be considered.

Candidates selected for an interview will be required to do a teaching demonstration (5-8 minutes) on any topic covered in the program and candidates will be required to provide a digital, web or printed portfolio at the interview.


Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience - $2,432.45 - $4,231.45 biweekly PLUS a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – NASA Instructor)

This position is covered by the NASA (NAIT Academic Staff Association) Collective Agreement.
