Summary

We are looking for a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to implement and support various human resources programs. If you have a passion for HR, are familiar with employment/labour law, are well versed in HR Software and tools looking to kickstart your career in the field, Surex is the place to be!

Your role as an HR Generalist will be far from one-dimensional. You will facilitate daily HR functions like keeping track of employees' records and supporting all processes relating to the employee life cycle with the company. Our ideal individual will demonstrate a high level of professionalism, the ability to maintain discretion and work collaboratively with others to achieve the accelerated growth of our business strategy. You will be responsible for providing timely and professional support to employees and managers as well as be a leading example of our culture.

You will have a broad knowledge of Human Resources as well as excellent administrative and IT skills with the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment. To ensure success, the HR Generalist should possess strong problem solving and decision-making skills with a deep understanding of employee relationships, staffing management and payroll. Top candidates will be fantastic at managing conflict, effective at scheduling and thorough in the recruitment process. He/She will be able to work autonomously and efficiently to ensure the end-to-end running of HR projects and operations.
The goal is to ensure the HR department's operations will be running smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide assistance to all business locations
  • Redirect HR related calls or distribute correspondence to the appropriate person of the team
  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment requirements are met
  • Conduct new orientation and help organize training & development initiatives
  • Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action
  • Assists with the preparation and smooth execution of the performance review process
  • Support the recruitment/hiring process by sourcing candidates, performing background checks, assisting in shortlisting, tracking, issuing employment contracts etc.
  • Assist supervisors in performance management procedures and employee relations issues
  • Responsible for the onboarding and offboarding of all employees
  • Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits and organizing team building activities
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations
  • Assist in ad-hoc HR projects, like collection of employee feedback for future HR programs
  • Keeps up with job and industry knowledge by participating in professional and educational training opportunities; reading professional publications; networking
  • Support other functions as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience; additional education with BSc/BA in Business Administration in will be a plus
  • At least three years related experience required
  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist or relevant human resources/administrative position
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
  • Good knowledge of employment/labour laws
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple task and duties simultaneously
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel and MS Powerpoint, in particular)
  • Advance computer skills – good working knowledge of Google suite considered an asset
  • Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems (e.g. Ceridian Dayforce)
  • Ability to work with ATS software
  • In-depth understanding of sourcing tools, like resume databases and online communities
  • Familiarity with social media recruiting
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Hybrid in office with work from home opportunity
  • Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality
  • Familiarity with office equipment, such as fax machines, copy machines, phone systems
  • CHRP designation is an advantage
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry considered an asset
