Role: As an integral part of the Sales & Marketing Department, the Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for helping to achieve MNP Community & Sport Centre (MNPCSC) business objectives through developing, building and executing a range of marketing and communications strategies and tactics

This role is responsible for co-creating and executing owned, paid, and unpaid media, both digital and traditional. The role provides support to MNPCSC integrated campaigns to proactively ensure our marketing is impactful, current and on brand. The Specialist will utilize a strong analytical ability to evaluate and optimize end-to-end user experience across multiple channels and touch points, continually improving performance and ROI. This position works collaboratively with a variety of cross-functional internal stakeholders and external partners to promote MNPCSC's many verticals.

What You'll Do:
Research and Planning:

· Contribute to the conception, execution and delivery of brand, program and membership campaigns including digital, traditional, direct mail, grassroots and other initiative.

· Develops media objectives and strategies, coordinates schedules and facilitates contracts on the execution of all media plans.

· Develops / contributes to plans for member acquisition, retention, and growth.

· Stays current with digital trends and emerging platforms, and best practices within the industry.

· Partakes in the development of the annual marketing plan and budget.

· Fosters strong relationships with all media partners, paid and unpaid.

· Works with cross-functional teams to develop new and innovative growth strategies.

· Performs and evaluates research, provides reporting and stays abreast on competition.

Owned Media:

  • Co-creates campaigns with clear and concise communication to the intended audience(s) on the appropriate channel / medium for the message.
  • Assists with content creation for website, blog, e-newsletter, ads, social media platforms and marketing collateral.
  • Grows database, segment and create email marketing campaigns.
  • Provides relief with monitoring, actioning or delegating website requests.
  • Acts as a liaison with digital marketing agency to increase engagement and direction for optimum results.
  • SEO keyword definition and optimization to identify gaps and new opportunities, preparing and executing on-page optimization strategies.
  • Assists with social media strategy by identification of emerging platforms, content creation, and execution as required.
  • Tracks, reports and analyzes website analytics and PPC initiatives from all campaigns.
  • Monitors performance and optimization of all owned media and provide recommendations.

Paid Media:

  • Acts as a liaison with digital marketing agency (SEM) to develop plans to increase engagement, determine content and set direction for optimum results.
  • Works with Graphic Designer to determine direction of new creative or use of existing.
  • Works directly with media channels to coordinate/negotiate the best placement, highest value-add, promotional support and optimal use of budgeted funds to place advertisements.
  • Implements and manages effective media buys.
  • Reviews creative for accuracy and adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Researches potential media buy opportunities, trends and innovations.
  • Provides recommendations considering exposure, circulation, audience, and product usage. Uses information to determine appropriate choices.
  • Maintains close contact with media representatives to keep current.

Unpaid Media:

  • Builds and maintain editorial list with appropriate writers (fitness, lifestyle, nutrition).
  • Writes media pitches, news advisories, and press releases.
  • Communication with media partners to garner editorial coverage.
  • Fosters strong relationships with media and partners such as Tourism Calgary.
  • Plans media events and hosting partners.
  • Sources out new opportunities for editorial.
  • Follows up with media leads.
  • Measures media efforts and results.
  • Reputation Management on review sites.
  • Regular updating of event sites.

What You'll Need:
· 4 – 5 years' experience in a digital marketing role.

· Communications, Marketing, Digital Marketing Diploma, Certificate, Degree.

· A creative, highly organized, positive individual.

· Ability to meet multiple, often competing deadlines.

· Strong written and verbal communication.

· Solid negotiation skills and strong business acumen.

· Excellent teamwork and ability to be self-directed.

· Experience with digital marketing automation software.

· Knowledge of CMS.

· Excellent copywriting and copy editing skills.

· Experience with Facebook Business Manager, Google Adwords, Mailchimp.

· Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

· Knowledge of video editing software an asset.

· Current certification in CPR Level C and Standard First Aid required within first 3 months or recent CPR Level C (last year) and Standard First Aid (within two years)

Salary: $45,993.00-$63,000.00 per year
