Summary:
Health Technology Assessment international (HTAi) is the global, not-for-profit, scientific and professional society for all those who produce, use or encounter health technology assessment (HTA). HTAi has a large global membership of senior thought leaders within national and international organizations and technology innovators, and thousands of individual members working within the field of HTA. We support the collaboration and scientific capacity development across 65 counties making access to health technologies policy recommendations and decisions.
In health systems around the world, HTA plays an essential role in decision making and informing policy on the use of effective technologies. This includes pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, procedures and other clinical, public health and organizational interventions, as well as the efficient use of resources in health care.
To support the Society's membership and initiatives in accordance with its Strategic Plan, HTAi is looking for someone with experience in clinical or health policy research coordination. This role will be an integral part of the development of the Society's scientific program activities and will require the successful candidate to draw upon a wide range of skills.
Responsibilities are varied and extend from liaising with global health leaders, working with and supporting the work of committees, working with interest group members to ensure their work is able to advance and be shared effectively with the community, supporting the development of training programs, and other prioritized scientific initiatives which will be developed in response to the needs of our membership.
We are looking for a thoughtful, well-organized, service-oriented and enthusiastic individual who is dedicated to the field of improving global public health and well aware of the complexities and needs of all stakeholders engaged with HTA, across the diverse regions and health care systems of the world.
Roles and Responsibilities:
In close collaboration with the Manager of Scientific Initiatives, the selected candidate will have to:
- Provide direct meeting planning, agenda development, minuting, and other duties as required for two of the standing committees of the Society (Scientific Development and Capacity Building
Committee and Interest Group Steering Committee).
- Support the Chairs of the standing committees and ensure a consistent flow of information between groups within the organization.
- Provide direct assistance to the HTAi Interest Groups by supporting the grant funding process, ensuring groups are able to collaborate with ease, supporting dissemination of the work of Interest
Groups in collaboration with the Society's Communication Lead
- Work with the Secretariat Team to communicate any needs for the promotion related to scientific content, including the Society's website.
- Advocate for the HTAi Interest Groups within the Society membership and to encourage continued high-quality research collaborations, growth and general advancement of the groups.
- Support the Society in the capacity development initiatives, this includes supporting the Society's endorsement program, training resources, Interest Group driven funding applications and research projects, methods symposia and other key activities prioritized by the standing committee responsible for this.
- Generate briefing notes and standing committee updates to the HTAi Executive Committee, and
Board of Directors, as needed.
- Work within project plans, budgets, resource allocation and reporting frameworks; Monitor and report on the completion of all deliverables.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Master degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, or another related field.
- Basic knowledge of HTA principles
- Minimum three years' experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical device, or related fields either in governmental bodies, academic institutions or private companies.
- Awareness of the role and positioning of HTAi in the ecosystem of international scientific societies.
- Excellent and proven English-language communication skills both verbal and written.
- Extremely detail-oriented, thorough, accurate.
- Fundamental research, analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to take on responsibility and use self-initiative to prioritize and work effectively within the team, under pressure and with adherence to firm deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving, sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Required to work independently and self-motivate.
- Highly professional, customer service driven with evidence of being able to communicate effectively with senior scientists, clinicians, policy makers, and leading members of the public from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience working with diverse, global teams.
- Experience with grant research, processes and procedures is an asset.
Work Conditions
- Candidates can be based in Canada or elsewhere (home-based).
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed. The candidate must be willing to work with flexibility to allow for meetings, which accommodate our membership across the world's time zones.
- International travel will be required, employees are expected to have the necessary vaccines, a valid passport, and no travel restrictions.
